The MOOC is organized into five interconnected modules designed to provide participants with essential knowledge on the key dimensions of climate change, climate justice and just transition. Throughout the course, learners will gain a solid understanding of climate phenomenology, the current state of the global climate system, and the potential future scenarios shaping our planet. Special attention is given to the impacts of extreme weather events and climate extremes, offering insights into how ecosystems and societies are already being affected.
One dedicated module focuses on climate governance, examining the commitments and strategies currently implemented at both the global and European Union levels to address the ongoing climate crisis. This section highlights best practices and policy tools that are shaping contemporary climate action.
The MOOC also looks beyond the emergency itself, engaging with climate movements and transformative initiatives that challenge extractivist models and propose alternative pathways such as the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT) and the Yasuní-ITT initiatives. Participants are invited to reflect on emerging visions of post-extractivist futures and the possibilities for a more just and equity transition.
